UI Fraud is giving false or misleading information, or holding back any information in order to draw benefits that you are not entitled to. Committing UI fraud is punishable under Illinois law. Penalties may include paying a fine, serving jail time, or both.
Types of Fraud:
- Failing to report earnings during weeks benefits are claimed,
- Filing a claim under a social security number not assigned to the claimant,
- Falsifying the dependent information in order to receive the dependent allowance,
- Certifying that you are able and available for work while incarcerated or unable to work for medical reasons
