  1. Class A & B - high school graduate or equivalent plus 3 years of acceptable training and/or hands-on experience; or Class C - high school graduate or equivalent plus 1 year of acceptable training and/or hands-on experience;
  2. Possess practical working knowledge of chemical, biological, and physical sciences essential to the practical mechanics of water treatment or distribution;
  3. Capable of functioning and maintaining the water treatment or water distribution process;
  4. Must be able to read and write English.
Exam Public Water Supplies Operator Certification Exam. Exam is always administered by Illinois Environmental Protection Agency personnel.

Exam Fee $10.00 exam fee is paid after the $30.00 application review fee has been received and the application has been approved.
Passing Criteria 70% or greater
Repeats Every month, no limitation
Continuing Education 30 hours - Class A & B, 15 hours - Class C every three years
Citizenship No requirement
