Redesigned Unemployment Insurance Online Application Is Now Available to the Public

7/18/18 - People now have an easier-to-use, streamlined application and the amount of time it takes to file online will be reduced. Redundant questions were removed and several new questions were added to improve job search assistance for veterans and migrant seasonal farmworkers. Military and federal workers can also use the tool.

This upgrade is part of a customer-centered focus IDES officials feel is crucial in serving the public.

“We are presenting a UI application with a cleaner look and feel,” said Justin Brissette, IDES Unemployment Insurance Program Director. “Questions are conditionally displayed so claimants are only shown questions that are relevant to their situation. We have added informational bubbles in several sections. The idea is to provide clarification to those claimants who need more information, while keeping an un-cluttered screen.”

“One of the primary goals of this project was to improve the claimant online experience while continuing to maintain the integrity of the system by detecting and preventing fraud, said IDES Director Jeff Mays. “The new application will help to improve integrity measures. Later in the year, IDES will launch a modernized, mobile-friendly technology that will allow claimants to easily and securely request their bi-weekly benefit payment. That will be followed by a complete refresh of the agency website.”

“Unemployment insurance provides temporary, partial wage replacement to eligible workers who are unemployed through no fault of their own,” said Mays. “The principal goal of the UI program is to assist job seekers obtain meaningful reemployment.”

Claimants who need additional assistance regarding their benefit claim and eligibility can call the Claimant Services Center at 800-244-5631.
