Job Description An individual who teaches food service sanitation certification courses.

Education/Experience
  1. Possession of high school diploma or its equivalent;
  2. Possession of a current Food Service Sanitation Manager Certification (FSSMC) certificate; and,
  3. Meets one of the following:
    1. Two years experience as a food service sanitation manager;
    2. Two years experience as a retail food inspector; or
    3. Associates degree or higher with minimum of 15 hours of science-related coursework.
Exam Completion of monitored Food Service Sanitation Instructor Certification Exam. Exam given by the IDPH.

Repeats Yes. May be repeated one time.
Continuing Education Yes. 20 hours of continuing education, covering food safety and food sanitation topics. Must be completed every five years for recertification.
