Education/Experience Successfully complete a Department of Public Health (IDPH) approved 15-hour Food Service Sanitation Manager Certification (FSSMC) course and monitored examination offered by IDPH or another IDPH-approved examination.
Exam Food Service Sanitation Manager Certification Exam. Approved examinations include those developed by IDPH, Educational Foundation, Professional Testing Institute, Experior Testing Services, and the Dietary Manager Association.

Passing Criteria 75% or higher
Repeats Yes. May be repeated twice.
Continuing Education Yes. Meet one of the following requirements before certificate expires:
  1. 5-hour refresher course.
  2. 15-hour FSSMC course.
  3. Score of 76% or higher on the IDPH renewal examination.
  4. 5-hour IDPH pre-approved food safety course.
